If The Ball Could See...

Multiple Choice

At some point yesterday, Miller punctured the new soccer ball that I bought him that was a little too big. Surprisingly, last night when I arrived for his late night visit, though, this was the ball he chose as his favorite! He liked it now that he could get it out of his mouth! Notice how he sets it close to my feet and then backs up and watches it.

Then if I don't act, he'll put it even closer to my feet and look at it and me. Then, he'll just start chewing on it.

Then this morning, he chose the old volleyball that I had brought over (that is also slightly too large)! No clue what changed his mind. Come to think of it, I didn't see that soccer ball today. Wonder what he did with that....

I've also finally discovered how to get my cuddling/loving fix with him. I just give him bear hugs while he's standing there gazing longingly at the ball. Heh.

This afternoon, we discovered a fabulous little field to walk in! Not sure if it was private or public or community property, but we enjoyed it nonetheless!!

Then more ball, of course. This is Miller post ball playing. Yes, he looks almost scary tired.

But he's fine! :)

Backwards Dog - And Finally Some Loving!!

For most dogs, I take them on fast walks/jogs for exercise. But, with Miller, he gets so excited and riled up (and thoroughly exercised) with the ball (and insists on playing immediately when I arrive!), that I have to take him for a slow walk in order to calm him down enough for his meal!
He was a sweet, sweet boy to some neighborhood kids that we met out on our walk today. Then when we got back from walking, I couldn't even get the leash off of him before he started asking to go out and play ball again!!

And I finally got some loving from him. :)
Sweet, tired boy.

A Ball is a Ball is a Ball is a Ball

Miller was completely happy with the punctured old ball.

If I don't act quickly enough to toss or kick it for him, he drops it in my lap!

Being the over-achiever that I am, I decided I had to get to Target before our next visit so that I could get him a new ball. I bought the smallest size, which I thought was equivalent to the existing one. Initially, it appeared that he loved the ball, as you can see below.

However, I eventually understood that the violent shaking of the ball was an attempt to get it out of his mouth and not playing! It was slightly too big for his mouth and he had trouble spitting it out!

Another pouffy tail for me to admire....

So now he has 2 flawed balls to choose between.

Guess which one he picked?

Pooped. But still willing to play ball at a millisecond's notice.

When I was at home this evening, I dug around in Jon's old sports equipment looking for an air pump so that I could try to deflate the ball a little bit. I didn't find the air pump, but I did find an old volleyball, which worked much better!!

Another satisfied customer. :)

Meet Miller. And His Ball.

Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball! Ooh, okay, walk! Walk! Walk! Walk! Walk!

Doh. Well it still works. Keep kicking!

Look how pitiful I am looking at my ball not moving! No, I'm not tired, really! (He panted so hard, I was worried!)

A few minutes later...More ball? And then a couple hours later...Ooh, my ball thrower is back! (The only way I got a clear shot of his face was by holding the ball above my head!)

Ok, fine, I'll sit with you for like 1 second, so cuddle fast! Now where's that ball?
